MyProtein Mocha is a flavor you do not want to miss out on. I had a feeling this would be a hit after trying the Mocha Cappucino flavor from Optimum Nutrition. Theirs was one of the best I’ve ever had and for me, it takes the #1 spot out of all their flavors. And you know what?
This one from MyProtein just might do the same.
Water
With a cold glass of water and one scoop of whey, I was in heaven. And just as I expected, it tasted exactly like the one from Optimum Nutrition. I get a strong yet smooth chocolate taste up front with a slight hint of coffee on the aftertaste. This is a protein shake I can look forward to with no problem. My only issue is the texture can be a little sticky, but a quick wash-down with water gets rid of it. Overall, I’m loving it.
Milk
MyProtein Mocha excels the most when mixed with milk. As you can imagine, milk and coffee already go together. So when you add it to milk, you get that same effect. Rich, creamy, and sweet, the taste is unbelievably delicious and balanced. The milk doesn’t overpower anything. The chocolate and coffee taste still comes through which is great. Of course, if compared to water, I’m mixing this protein powder with milk every time. It should almost be illegal to have such a delicious drink like this that’s also good for you.
Milk And Banana
A banana never makes a protein shake taste worse, but sometimes it’s just not needed. In this case, that would be true. It’s like having banana-flavored coffee. It doesn’t go too well together. So a banana with this flavor doesn’t add anything to it. It gives it a thicker texture and a little more sweetness, but the shake is already sweet. It also masks the coffee flavor a bit which is the star of the show here. I’d give it a try if you don’t like the coffee taste, but if you don’t like the taste of coffee, you shouldn’t get this flavor in the first place.
Mixability
Like most of the Myprotein Impact Wheys I’ve tried, the mixability of this flavor is smooth. Even without a whisk ball, it breaks down completely. Just give it a rough shake and you’re good to go.
MyProtein Mocha Review
As others have noted, MyProtein Mocha is comparable to chocolate milk or a Starbucks bottled Mocha Cappucino.
Again, if you don’t like the taste of coffee, steer away from this.
But if you do or don’t mind it, this will easily become one of your staple flavors from the Impact Whey line.
A scoop of this with milk has been my go-to for the past few weeks and I still look forward to it every time.
