This might be the best Optimum Nutrition Flavor I ever tried. What is it?
Mocha Cappuccino
Before I get into it, let me tell you this is currently my favorite Optimum Nutrition flavor. And I’m not even a coffee lover.
This flavor has gotten a lot of attention, and for good reason. You’ll find almost nothing but great reviews, which is why I had to try it.
What is Mocha Cappuccino?
- Mocha = chocolate
- Cappuccino = espresso (dark ground coffee) and steamed milk
Basically, chocolate, milk, and coffee. (Coffee is even a listed ingredient)
Not something I really drink. But if it’s in protein powder form, why not?
Here’s what my first impression was…
Mocha Cappuccino Review: Water
The moment I opened the container, it smelled incredible. A sweet chocolate and it tasted just as good too.
With just water, you get a smooth and rich chocolate taste. Almost like chocolate milk. And on top of that, you get the coffee and cream taste lingering in the background.
It’s very well-blended together.
Upon first sip of Optimum Nutrition Mocha Cappuccino, the first thing that pops to mind is Starbucks’ Bottled Mocha Frappuccino.
They taste just alike. But of course, the protein powder isn’t as sweet since it’s not packed full of sugar.
Optimum Nutrition Mocha Cappuccino tastestlike Starbucks’ Mocha Frappuccino
So far, off to an amazing start.
Now let’s see how it tastes with milk
Mocha Cappuccino Review: Milk
Mocha Cappuccino already has a milky taste to begin with. But with actual milk, this protein shake really lives up to its name.
You couldn’t get any closer to its real flavor.
Adding milk to this protein powder, is like adding cream to your coffee.
With milk, this turns into an all out milkshake.
Sweet, creamy, and packed full of chocolate. The best part of it all is it still retains that slight coffee taste. Making this taste like an authentic mocha cappuccino.
If I gave you this protein shake, you almost wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference from the real thing.
It’s that good.
Mocha Cappuccino Review: Milk & Banana
I never heard of a banana and Mocha Cappuccino being used together. But a quick Google search showed several muffin recipes combining the two.
But after trying it with this protein powder, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a sweet tooth.
With a banana added to the mix, this loses all its coffee flavor. And leaves it as just a regular chocolate banana milkshake. Which isn’t bad at all. Just a bit too sweet for tongue.
After all, the whole point of getting Mocha Cappuccino is to have it taste like what it says.
So I don’t see really drink this with a banana.
Mocha Cappuccino Review: With Peanut Butter
Like a banana, I didn’t think peanut butter was a good combo with this
But to my surprise, this tastes good.
I then Googled to find out if this was actually a thing. And it was! I even found companies that sell Peanut Butter Cappuccino Mix and Cappuccino Flavored Peanut Butter.
Who knew?
The peanut butter in this shake mixes nicely with the chocolate flavor. And gives it that creamy texture everyone loves. The only downside is it hides the coffee flavor too.
So you basically have a chocolate peanut butter shake.
Mocha Cappuccino Protein Pancake Recipe
Because Mocha Cappuccino tastes mostly like chocolate, here’s an easy chocolate banana protein pancake recipe you can follow.
This is what you’ll need:
- 1-2 scoops of chocolate flavor protein powder (I used Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate)
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/3 cup of regular oatmeal
- 1 Banana
- Teaspoon of baking soda
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Whipped cream (optional)
Once you got that together, here’s how to make your pancakes:
- Blend your protein powder, milk, oatmeal, banana, and baking soda together until it turns into a batter.
- Heat up your pan to a medium heat.
- Spray with non-stick cooking spray.
- Pour batter in to whatever size you want your pancake and let it sit for a few minutes.
- Flip with a spatula.
- Now plate it and enjoy!
Mocha Cappuccino After A Few Weeks
After about two weeks of drinking Mocha Cappuccino, it still tastes good.
The flavor stays the same and never did I get bored or tired of it.
With most protein powders, you can expect it to go bad drinking it for a week or two. Luckily, this wasn’t the case with Mocha Cappuccino.
After every workout, I rushed to down one of these shakes.
Optimum Nutrition Mocha Cappuccino Review
I don’t think Optimum Nutrition can ever top a flavor like this one. It’s no wonder why I consider it the best Optimum Nutrition flavor they ever made.
For one, it tastes exactly like what it says. You won’t find that to be true with most protein powders.
But Mocha Cappuccino hits the nail on the head every time.
And did I mention that this tastes great with milk? Once you get a tub, have your first shake with milk and you’ll see why I love this flavor so much.
However, the best thing of all is I have no problem drinking this with water.
So would I buy this again? Yes. Absolutely.
This is my go-to protein powder. If I’m ever unsure of what to buy, I go straight for this one. And if you get yours now, I’m confident it’ll be yours too. There is no other flavor at the moment that tastes as natural as Mocha Cappuccino does.
So don’t waste another second…
